This August Cuervo Promotions will be going
to one of the biggest and fastest-growing summer music festivals in Europe, The Sziget Festival.

The Sziget Festival started as a relatively small student
event and has grown every year since becoming one of the five best European
Festivals of 2011. This year is the 20th edition of the festival and
it will play host to more than 1000 performances. Taking place in Budapest, Hungary, this unique setting is convenient for visitors as it is set on the island, Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), on the Danube river close to the
center of the city.
Cuervo Promotions will be filming during
the week-long festival. We will be covering the event in collaboration with SM
Digital for promotion in Spain and Portugal. We will be producing a number of
video-journals, interviews and vlogs for several Spanish media companies
through Spanish Sziget Promoters.
We are really looking forward to filming
the experiences of the festival-goers as it’s the biggest event we’ve covered
to date. It should be a fun but an intense filming schedule as we will be
heading out into the crowds every day to capture as many of the festival’s activities as
possible. The videos will be released daily throughout the festival on social
networks along with reviews, blogs and photos of the daily events and
happenings.
The 108 hectar (266 acres) island, normally
a mid-river park and retreat for the cities population, gets completely
transformed each year to hold the festivals 400,000+ visitors. However, Sziget
is an environmentally-friendly festival and oganisers strive to minimise the impact
of the festival on the environment. For example, this year there will be a Green InfoPoint where you can exchange trash for other things and find out more about the Sziget Environmental Program.

The festival attracts performers, groups and musical acts from all over the world and boasts one of the most eclectic mixes of genres and musical styles of any festival in Europe. This year’s lineup includes big names such as
The Killers,
The Stone Roses,
Placebo,
Anti Flag,
The Pogues and
Molotov, as well as many more and varied bands from many different genres for people to discover.
Not only can visitors enjoy whichever
style of music they prefer, there is also a plethora of non-musical and
cultural activities to keep visitors entertained over the week-long event. This year the extra-curricula activities include "The Playhouse" (where you can relax and play boardgames), old-fashioned photography, pottery-making and a "Marriage Tent" to keep festival-goers entertained and maybe even a ring on their finger by the time the festival is over! In fact, although music is the excuse for such
a huge party, it is probably quite possible to thoroughly enjoy the festival without even
watching any groups perform!
We hope to catch some of these moments on video. We'll also be posting a few more blogs here with festival news in the run up to Sziget 2012!
